Celebrity hair guru Nicky Clarke has recently taken on hair specialists GHD in a hair straightening iron war, and the outcome has surprised many people.
For many women across the UK GHD hair straightening irons have become the natural choice, despite the high price of these irons. Whilst GHDs retail for over one hundred pounds many women would not be without theirs, as they have become known for producing great results even on curly hair, leaving locks sleek, glossy, and looking great.
However, whilst GHD may have had the monopoly in the hair straightening market over the past few years, it was only a matter of time before a rival challenged the brand, and the person that has done this is the celebrity hair stylist Nicky Clarke, who already has a popular line in hair care products.
Clarke took on GHD in a head to head battle when consumers were asked to test GHD hair straightening irons against Clarke’s own desiRED straightening irons. Independent tests were carried out amongst one hundred women in the UK. The results of the tests came as something of a surprise to many.
Following the testing of the straightening irons, the women were told both the brand and the cost of the straightening irons. Surprisingly fifty seven percent of those tested said that they preferred the Nicky Clarke irons, with sixty three percent of women with curly hair claiming that the Nicky Clarke ones had performed better on their hair. The Clarke irons cost around fifty pounds less than the rival GHD irons, and are able to reach temperatures of up to two hundred and thirty degrees.
